Welcome readers to the IoT / AIoT Weekly Newsletter! I'm here to bring you some of the latest trends and perspectives on the overlap of Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things, or what is becoming more and more commonly called the AIoT.
This week we have a few fun things that have happened since we published last week.
- Applied Artificial Intelligence May Meetup - We had an awesome discussion with Ryan Phelan on the topic of AI and the IP Landscape on May 6th. If you missed it, you can watch the recording of the meetup on YouTube!
- I'm super excited to announce that I'll be speaking at Tech Connect 2021 on What is the AIoT and Why Your Busines Won't Survive Without It. I hope you can attend!
- Finally, we have a new podcast out this week on the Conversations on Applied AI Podcast. This week I talked with Jason Shepherd on Trust Fabrics, Applying IoT at the edge and how machines must trust, scale, and work together.
Hope you enjoy this issue! I am truly blessed to be working in an area that I'm very passionate about. If you want to continue to stay engaged with me and our community, please reach out and connect with me. I would love to talk with you about your projects at the intersection of AI and IoT. Enjoy!

AI and the IoT Merge to Form the AIoT
Technology trends in artificial intelligence (AI) and the IoT have started to merge, a trend that the industry has named the Artificial Intelligence of Things (IoT). The movement of AI from the cloud to the edge is providing a solution to bandwidth and security issues that have hampered the more widespread adoption of IoT in key markets. If the history of technology development is a reliable guide to the future, this convergence has at least two more stages to play out in the next few years.
AI and IoT Blended - What It Is and Why It Matters?
Today’s business world is changing with the adoption of IoT (Internet of Things). IoT is helping in prominently capturing a tremendous amount of data from multiple sources. However, wrapping around the multitude of data coming from countless of IoT devices, makes it complex to collect, process, and analyze the data.
Xiaomi Trademarks the “Internet of Vehicles” as Part of Car Project
Xiaomi is one of the tech giants planning to expand in the car market, so the company is working around the clock on preparing its very first model, due in 2023 or 2024 at the earliest.
The Artificial Intelligence of Things
There’s a new phrase going around the past few years. It’s one in which I believe company executive and business owners of all sizes should be keeping their eyes on and that is AIoT. The AIoT is short for the Artificial Intelligence of Things. It’s the convergence of both Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things
Smart Factories Get Smarter With AI Inspection Systems
The smart factory is a key feature of Industry 4.0, and the key to the smart factory is the ability for the things inside it to be connected in real-time in what is known as the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).
With CHIP on the Horizon, What Does the Future Hold for Zigbee and Z-Wave?
There are now 180 companies involved with Project CHIP. Among those brands are Amazon, Apple, Google, and Samsung to name just a few; you can find the full list at the bottom of this page. As a result, we suspect Zigbee and Z-wave will be less relevant in the coming years as this group adopts the CHIP standard. Keep in mind though: The Zigbee Alliance has wrangled all of these companies together, so there may be more hope for Zigbee’s future.

How the Internet of Things Is Revolutionizing the Wellbeing of Residents in Assisted Living
IoT technology is being used to help councils improve adult social care services. With the UK currently in the throes of a social care crisis, events like the Covid-19 pandemic have exacerbated the challenges that local authorities and private care providers face in delivering meaningful yet cost-effective care to vulnerable people in assisted living.

Artificial Intelligence And The Internet Of Things (AIoT) Hold The Promise Of A More Connected Future
The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) devices are set to provide greater data visibility, improved performance, and opportunities for automation. The capabilities of IIoT are often cited in the manufacturing industry and beyond after goods have left the manufacturing facility.
The Role of AI in IoT
Have you ever wondered how smart air conditioners gather all the data regarding outside temperature and adjust the room temperature accordingly?
Well, the answer to this question lies in the term Internet of Things, which was coined by Kevin Ashton in his presentation of Procter and Gamble in the year 1999.

Add AI Into the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) for More Intelligence
Business Insider predicts that there will be over 64 billion IoT devices by 2025 AI and IIoT will be a powerful tandem in managing an influx of data. The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) devices are set to provide greater data visibility, improved performance, and opportunities for automation. The capabilities of IIoT are often cited in the manufacturing industry and beyond after goods have left the manufacturing facility.
