Justin Grammens
Greetings IoT Weekly News Readers. I am super excited to be back this week with issue #142! This week you'll definitely want to checkout the first article. It's a fascinating review of technology changes and how we got to where we are today with the 4th Industrial Revolution. I also continue with more stories on AIoT and how Artificial Intelligence is having a greater and greater role in the adoption and usefulness of IoT. It's been my experience with the clients we work at Lab651 and Resursive Awesome that it's not until you can apply algorithms to large datasets with Machine Learning techniques that our customers start to see the value in connecting their products to the Internet. The area of AIoT is one that I'm doubling down on and working more and more on each day.
Finally, please sure to register for our February AppliedAI Meetup on Executing on MLOps and my new podcast episodes on the Conversations on Applied AI. Subscribe today! I'll be bringing in more and more speakers related to AIoT and in general real-time IoT data in the future. If you are doing interesting things in the field of IoT, please reach out to me. Enjoy!

The Fourth Industrial Revolution: The Rise Of The Autonomous Economy
When examining the past, it becomes clear that advancements in technology have undoubtedly been the leading driver in the progression of human civilization. Just like the wheel and compass revolutionized previous generations, developments of the smartphone and the Internet have completely changed society today, making it hard to even imagine a world without them.
IoT Trends 2021: A Focus on Fundamentals, Not Nice-to-Haves
With the close of a whirlwind 2020 and the start of 2021, connected devices will continue to define numerous industries in the coming year.
Several trends continue to gather momentum, fueling IoT’s prominence in 2021, from data-intensive experiences that use Internet of Things (IoT) devices (such as self-driving cars or wearable devices) to basic health-and-safety needs as COVID-19 continues to take center stage.
The Potential and Early Impact of AIoT
The Internet of Things (IoT) has created a world based on connectivity that allows any device or object around us to become smarter and more responsive. The technology opens opportunities to create digital experiences based on physical objects – toys, appliances, vehicles, assembly lines, and more. But while this technology makes the devices we interact with smarter, technologists have started taking a step back to make IoT itself smarter as well.
Internet of Cars: A driver-side primer on IoT implementation
Billions of devices are currently connected to the Internet of Things (IoT), and researchers are predicting tremendous growth in the coming decade.
One of the most exciting, challenging, and potentially lucrative areas of the IoT is the automotive sector. The car is a major component of most people’s daily lives, and a “smart” car could do a lot to save people time and money.
CES 2021: Bosch Puts Its Faith in AI and Connectivity
To improve people’s health and to protect our planet, Bosch is counting on AIoT, taking advantage of the possibilities offered by data, artificial intelligence, and the internet of things to benefit people and the environment with technical solutions. “We combine AI and connectivity to form the AIoT, which helps us improve energy efficiency and fight the coronavirus,” says Michael Bolle, Bosch board of management member.

Realizing the Smart Factory Vision Through an AIoT Approach
Looking back through the year, smart production can be regarded as a global development trend. Covid-19 outbreak has hit the global manufacturing supply chain. Although the labor shortage has led to the serious decline in production across the industry, the epidemic has driven the demand for "smart manufacturing" and is expected to transform the production model with a vision of the "Smart Factory" of the future.

Run Linux based IoT Edge modules on Windows IoT
Azure IoT Edge for Linux on Windows, also known as EFLOW, allows to run Linux-based cloud-native workloads on Windows IoT. This allows to retain existing Windows IoT investments and benefit from the power of Windows IoT for applications that require an interactive UX and high-performance hardware interaction. You no longer need to choose Windows or Linux; you can leverage the best of both platforms.
