I'm hopeful that this newsletter finds you both happy and healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic that is sweeping the globe. As in past issues, i've curated a number of IoT related articles that I believe you would find interesting and representative of some of the unique ways that the Internet of Things continues to find new ways to improve our lives.

I also wanted to do a few helpless self-promotion items that you might find useful.

SimShine Raises $8 Million for Home Security Cameras That Use Edge Computing

SimShine, a computer vision startup based in Shenzhen, has raised $8 million in pre-Series A funding for SimCam, its line of home security cameras that use edge computing to keep data on-device. The funding was led by Cheetah Mobile, with participation from Skychee, Skyview Fund and Oak Pacific Investment.

Cisco Goes After Wireless IoT With Fluidmesh Acquisition

Cisco is looking to reinforce its wireless IoT portfolio by acquiring Fluidmesh Networks for an undisclosed amount. Founded in 2005 by researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Polytechnic University of Milan, the firm specializes in wireless backhaul technology to support enterprise-class video, voice, and data connectivity in large-scale distributed sites where signal strength can be challenging.
