Welcome! I decided to focus much of this issue on articles in the areas of Analytics, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence as these are driving some unique applications in the IoT. I also pulled in a few fun stories on developing for the Internet of Things and a startup, called Flarean which I've been working with as their Chief Technical Officer had a story written about us this week.

Everything You Know About Artificial Intelligence is Wrong

I found this a fun and interesting read. While not specifically on devices or the more core areas of the Internet of Things, the article does cover some industrial applications at the end.

Good article on how automation and intelligence is going to affect the future of the Internet of Things. This is an area I've been exploring over the last year as it's the actions one can take based on the data that provide value in the IoT. IBM and Google are cited as key players in this space, but obviously Microsoft and Amazon are pouring a ton of money in as well.

2020 still seems very far away and hard to predict that far out, but this article cites from a report by Deloitte, "The U.S. is expected to move up from No. 2 to No. 1 in manufacturing by 2020 due to the digital transformation of manufacturing and business."

Interesting and short article looking at the so called, "Analytics of Things" and "Operations of Things". I agreed with the main point that the IoT has changed the value of data from the edge, as now we can aggregate it with data from a whole host of other sources.

This article reinforces some of the points that I have been making for years: It's the industrial side of IoT that is the most profitable in the the near term. It's odd sometimes to think of large businesses as early adopter of new technology, but if there's money to be made from a new process it really I guess isn't all that strange.
