Greetings! This past week was the Blackhat USA 2015 conference in Las Vegas. One of the major themes on peoples mind is how security is playing a vital role in the adoption of the Internet of Things.
If users don't feel their data is safe, adoption is going to be nearly impossible. Today each company is implementing various levels of best practices, but in the race to get something to market many of the tough questions remain unresolved. I personally feel at times that security and the IoT is a house of cards; a very real chance to toppling if we aren't careful to consider security in the solutions we build.
Therefore, this issue we will be focusing on the security aspects of IoT. We are hopeful that you enjoy this issue and please be sure to spread the word by tweeting it to your followers!

Black Hat 2015: IoT Devices Can Become Transmitters to Steal Data
This research hacker used a very creative way of using an IoT device to generate a radio signal to be picked up. As the article states, "The attacker uses something the defender can’t readily monitor".
Securing the Internet of Things – Time for Another Look at PKI?
As the article states, "PKI was first developed to secure communications between user devices and servers over public networks, so the IoT seems an obvious extension of this use case."
The Wild, Wild West of IoT Security
One of the main problems is that security is often an afterthought, bolted onto solutions after the fact, once issues arise.
