A fun week in the world of the IoT! The leading stories in this issue involve an M&A story on Amazon acquiring 2lemetry for its IoT strategy and a security piece from the guardian. There was also a lot of good stuff floating around about Big Data, and the Industrial Internet, so I picked up a few extra articles and a video on those subjects as well.
Finally, I'm extremely excited by the strong turnout we are expecting at the IoTFuse Conference conference in the Twin Cities on March 19th. We'll be sure and have articles around the coverage of that next week. Read on and enjoy!

Amazon Has Quietly Acquired 2lemetry To Build Out Its Internet Of Things Strategy
This is huge news. The fact that Amazon snapped them up when they were just founded in 2011 shows that collecting data is big business. Those with a solid platform and any type of traction are attractive to large corporations who see a threat from smaller platforms capturing data from "things" that traditionally are not in their system, but will be valuable as more and more of these devices come online.

Hacked Dog, a Car That Snoops on You and a Fridge Full of Adverts: The Perils of the Internet of Things
This article raises a number of interesting questions around what the world could look like if everything is connected. "For just as electricity can shock and kill, so too can billions of connected things networked online." The biggest question many of us are dealing with is how to secure it.

Cheaper Sensors Will Fuel The Age Of Smart Everything
This is right in line with my observations and initial comments when we launched IoTWeekly News. Cheap sensors make it easy for everyone to participate. What then becomes interesting is what can you DO with the data that your receive.
More App Makers Focusing on IoT Solutions in the Enterprise
It's not just enough to be a "mobile development" shop these days. I know from the experience of owning Recursive Awesome that you need to adapt to what the market is asking for.

Fogs, Logs and Cogs: The Newer, Bigger Shape of Big Data in the Internet of Things
A good article on on IoT computing and how big data will become an order-of-magnitude bigger than ever. Advanced analytics are going to be required to make sense of all the data and will evolve into distributed and deep-learning systems spanning an ever more increasing number of devices.
The next Frontier for Smart Grids Is Decoding Big Data
Smart grids need large amounts of data to survive and provide value. Another article on how Big Data is just finally starting to become mainstream and see real value to the systems and users who access it.
How Big Data and Internet of Things (IoT) Impact Data Centers
Everyone can grow from analysis and looking at more data. Even data centers themselves!

Marco Annunziata: Welcome to the Age of the Industrial Internet
Good TEDx talk on the age of the Industrial Internet. It's from a few years ago, but still very relevant as piece to bring through the changes we have seen in the past and to where we are today.
Keeping the World's Elevators Running Smoothly with Machine Learning and IoT
Love articles like this! Real world examples of using data to be smart and increase the efficiency and the world around us.
